● What is Easter? It's a Christian holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ after He was put to death on the hill of Calvary. Easter comes on the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs on or after March 21. The holiday is a reminder of God's grace in sending His Son to save all His children from suffering here and hereafter. It also reminds us of how tragic it was that Jesus' mission was cut short and betrayed by faith-challenged disciples, the fickle masses, and arrogant Israelite leaders.
● What is the true meaning of Easter? Easter celebrates Jesus' resurrection from the dead. It's the capstone of His life and signifies a victory over sin and spiritual death. The resurrection signifies the beginning of a "new creation" and offers believers the hope of a new life in Christ, both now and eternally. Jesus could have achieved much more for God, however, if the Israelite leaders and masses had united with him and propelled His Messiahship to the conclusion prophesied in, for example, Isaiah 9:6. There, and in other key verses, Jesus is predicted to achieve the actual Kingdom of God on earth, as Christ Himself talked about on numerous occasions in the Gospels.
● Is there evidence for Christ's Easter resurrection? Yes. There is the empty tomb, described in several independent accounts in the Gospels. Then there are eyewitness testimonies of meetings with Jesus, which shocked His disciples on multiple occasions; He even once manifested to 500 of his followers (1 Corinthians 15:6). Also, Jesus' post-resurrection appearances seem to be the force that transformed His disciples from a cowering rabble to an evangelical powerhouse. There is abundant Gospel evidence, however, that these appearances were manifestations of Jesus' spiritual body, not His physical body.
